Kin House: A Florist’s Guide to One of Wiltshire’s Most Loved Wedding Venues

If there’s one venue I feel completely at home in, it’s Kin House in Wiltshire. I work there a lot, in fact, a good chunk of my 2025 weddings were at Kin, which makes me laugh a little because it never once felt repetitive.

Although all different, Kin House weddings have a very particular energy to them. It’s that gorgeous mix of relaxed and refined. Imagine your coolest friend’s parents’ country house: elegant, but never stuffy, and as it’s designed to feel like a home rather than a hotel, Kin House is full of cosy corners, armchairs tucked into just-right spots, and beautiful little surprises everywhere you turn, from the shell grotto to the doors that open from the Drawing Room onto the South Lawn.

It’s chic, it’s warm, and it’s an absolute joy to flower.

The Overall Look and Feel of a Kin House Wedding

The interiors, designed by Barlow & Barlow, are quintessentially British and expertly layered – traditional prints, complementary colours, great lighting – but nothing feels too overdone or overly precious. There’s always a strong sense of fun running through the house, which makes it such a brilliant backdrop for style-focused weddings.

What I love most, from a floral point of view, is how neutral and adaptable the spaces are. The palette across the rooms allows for everything and anything to shine. Whether a couple wants dramatic installations or small, sculptural moments, Kin really does carry it all beautifully.

It’s especially suited to design-conscious couples and is brilliant for bringing guests together from across the country, because everyone can stay on-site and truly settle into the weekend. I’ve also worked on multi-faith weddings here – Jewish ceremonies, registrar-led weddings, celebrants, priests – and it manages to accommodate a wide range of celebrations with ease.

The Spaces at Kin House That Shine with Flowers

There are a few standout spaces at Kin House that consistently lend themselves to memorable floral design:

The Garden Room

This is a favourite for large ceremony installations. It’s light, airy, and centred around a beautiful original fig tree. The scale and brightness of the room mean it can handle big, textural designs just as confidently as more delicate, sculptural pieces on plinths. I’ve loved working here with both lush foliage-heavy installations and lighter, more minimal arrangements.

The Walled Garden

For outdoor ceremonies, the Walled Garden offers a gorgeous sense of enclosure. Flowers really sing in here as it already feels really special; florals just heighten that intimacy further.

Kilvert Hall & Bar

This is party central: home to the reception, dancing, and live music for larger weddings. It’s a big space, but with the right floral choices, it can feel wonderfully cosy and atmospheric. It’s where scale really comes into play.

The Hearth Room

One of my personal favourite spaces to flower. The glass ceiling windows create the most beautiful light for welcome dinners and smaller receptions, and the original 18th-century fireplace adds instant warmth. It’s always a joy to dress this room, particularly in colder months when the fire is roaring.

How Kin House Changes with the Seasons

One of the reasons I never tire of working at Kin House is how brilliantly it moves with the seasons. Almost every room has an open fire, so in autumn and winter, there’s always that sense of warmth and glow. In spring and summer, so many rooms spill straight out into the gardens, and the day flows naturally between inside and out.

From a floral perspective, it’s super flexible. The Garden Room in particular is such a gift: it can take bold, foliage-led installations in the warmer months, but it’s just as suited to layered winter textures or more low-key spring compositions. Big, interesting foliage works especially well here, but we’ve also had so much fun creating delicate collections of vases and sculptural bowls that feel lighter and more restrained. The space really does allow for both ends of the spectrum.

Floral Moments That Make the Biggest Impact

Kin House genuinely has room for both the large gesture and the small, intricate detail. Because the décor is so balanced, floral moments of all sizes are given space to breathe. You can have a show-stopping ceremony installation and a table full of tiny, thoughtful details, and neither competes with the other. One clever design approach I always encourage couples to consider here is moveable floral designs.

Because everything happens on site, pieces can be repurposed throughout the day – a ceremony installation might later sit behind the top table, or welcome arrangements can be moved into the evening spaces. It allows couples to get the most creative mileage from their flowers, and the venue layout makes it especially easy to do so.

The Kin House Team (aka Dream Collaborators)

The Kin house team are genuinely incredible to work alongside. To them, everything is always about ensuring the couple has the best possible experience, and that care extends to every supplier involved in the day. In fact, it’s often the little things that make the biggest difference: an early-morning coffee just when you need it, or a great playlist suddenly appearing in the Garden Room while we work. Those small acts of thoughtfulness make long install mornings not just easier, but genuinely joyful – thank you, Kin House team!

A Favourite Floral Installation at Kin House

Choosing a favourite installation at Kin is nigh on impossible, but one that stands out is a large winter wall installation in the Garden Room. The couple had a deep connection to nature (the bride works in nature conservation), and the design was built around that passion and ethos.

We created four tall, textural floral columns designed to soften the pale green trellis on the back wall. The result felt natural, immersive and actually really powerful; a beautiful example of how florals at Kin can respond not just to the space, but to the people at the heart of the day.

Why I Love Floristry at Kin House

From extravagant multi-day weddings to intimate dinners and press launches, Kin hosts an incredible range of celebrations year-round, and every one feels genuinely unique. Being a recommended florist at Kin House is something I’m incredibly proud of, not just because of the beauty of the venue, but because of the care and collaboration that underpins every event there.

If you’re planning a Kin House wedding, and you’re looking for a floral designer who knows these spaces inside out but will approach your brief with fresh eyes and a completely bespoke perspective, I’d love to hear what you’re dreaming up.
