Maisie and Jimmy’s May wedding was a full expression of spring, handled with restraint and a brilliant use of colour. Maisie adores flowers, but the brief wasn’t about excess – it was about doing something considered with the budget, then letting the flowers travel with the day from All Angels Church to the Fig House at Middleton Lodge.
Their love of classic country weddings featured throughout the details – brass candlesticks, crisp white table runners and layers of garden florals – but the overall feel stayed effortlessly cool and relaxed (much like them). The tables were designed in colour-focused groupings: pink and white together, peach with pale yellow, and lilac with blue, with corncockle, butterfly ranunculus, Icelandic poppies and fluffy white hesperis giving the designs their late-spring character. When I handed Maisie her bouquet after 18 months of planning, we both cried – pure joy on both sides.
