The Garden Room at Kin House is no stranger to a statement floral arch, which was exactly why Char wanted to approach it a little differently. She loved the scale and impact of an arch, but wanted the ceremony to feel softer and more enveloping, so we curved the design around them with four generous meadow installations sweeping forwards from the altar. Urns and further meadows at the entrance and start of the aisle drew the flowers through the whole room, creating something they could stand amongst rather than simply in front of.
Peonies were Char’s other non-negotiable. We tested different varieties and watched their colours develop before settling on a softly blushed variety for her bouquet and a slightly different creamy tone for her bridesmaids, eventually using ten types across the wedding alongside sweet peas, larkspur and roses. Dinner had its very own atmosphere, with large and small floral bowls mixed with tiny bud vases, while Pooky lamps and candlelight gave the tables a cosy, restaurant-like glow. Char and I became equally invested in every subtle shade difference and table detail over the course of planning, so seeing it all come together – and receiving some of the loveliest feedback I’ve ever had afterwards – made this one very special and especially emotional.
